Successful Visit by BKIT UK Trustees
Sunday, 23 October 2011
Trustees from the Buwan Kothi International Trust in the UK, including Margaret McGreevy, Janet Alty, Debbie Mundy and Mora Singh, have visited the GMMCS for three weeks starting from Monday 10th October. As part of their work with the Principal and Managing Director, Janet has assisted with guidance on new policies and procedures and Kevin has sought to revitalise the school’s financial record systems.
One creative project undertaken by Maggie and Debbie is a ‘Teddy Bear Diary’ with the participation of students from class 3A. Each day, three members of the class took home a digital camera and a teddy bear to photograph their bear’s “adventures” at the child’s home. Debbie plans to produce a book of these pictures for all class members.
In addition, trustees from the UK and Mota Singh, chair of BKIT India, met with the Assistant District Commissioner for Fatehbad district to discuss developments at GMMCS. As a result of this meeting, progress has been made on connecting the school to broadband internet and providing photo-voltaic (PV) solar electricity cells. Both developments, when complete, will be paid for by generous donations from supporters of BKIT UK.
